An interview with Philip Rizk, egyptian activist arrested by Egypt police during a pro-Palestine demonstration. On february 6, 2009, Rizk, 27 years-old man with Egiptian and German citizenship wasstopped by the police at the end of a manifestation he took part in. He was recluded for five days with no charge nor explanations.

Philip Rizk is the author of TabulaGaza, a blog of consideration, information and news about the Gaza Strip.

From the World Social Forum in Belém, Brazil, a plea of solidarity towards the Gaza population.

We will listen to a live telephone relay directly from Belem, taken during the Dal’ouna concert held in Rome.

On the phone, a doctor of the Ngo Union of Health work Committees (HWC), who reaffirms the need of direct actions in aid to the Gaza population.

The HWC took part in the World Social Forum, the annual meeting of the main grass-roots movements, associations and Ngos of the world involved in the process of building alternatives to the new free-enterprise economical system.

Palestinian diaspora: the second generation in UK (episode 27)

Second generation Palestinian-Italians, like many other immigrants face the dilemma of possessing a dual allegiance to their parents’ country of origin and their own place of birth. How do they negotiate with it? A glimpse into the lives of second generation Palestinian and Italian-Palestinian men and women living in Europe . Are they assimilated? do they want to assimilate? and is their culture inherently in oppposition to that of mainstream society they live in?

In this show we give voice to Mjriam Abu Samra , second generation Palestinian living in Rome and working in London, England.

She shares with us hints about her “mixed” culture, thoughts about her origins and she compares Palestinian second generations in Italy and England.
