The “4th Bil’in conference on grassroots popular resistance ” took place from April 22 to 24th. The objective of the international meeting was to strengthen the relationships with the international solidarity social movements and to find new ways to strengthen and support the popular Palestinian struggle .
Riccardo Carrara, activist of the SCI, the International Civil Service, participated at the conference. “We tried to find new solutions to end the apartheid in Palestine”. One of the most interesting interventions was presented by Zico Tamela. Mr. Tamela, International Officer of the South-african Transport and Allied Workers Union, drow a parallel between the history of Palestine and South-Africa. In South-Africa the boycott campaign has been able to push the african government to end the apartheid regime. So it should be in Palestine.

Pierre Galand, coordinator of Committees and associations for Palestine, talk with us about the new Israeli government. Mr.Galand is involved in the activities of the Russel Tribunal: this international court seeks to reaffirm the primacy of international law as the basis for the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “After the last Gaza conflict, the court starts to analyze the complicity of the International community allowing Israel to violate the international law”.

The “Review conference of the parties to the treaty on the non proliferation of nuclear weapons” took place in New York from 4 to 15 May 2009. Giorgio Alba, the founder of Bang, Ban All Nukes Generation Network, partecipated in the New York conference. We talk with him about the US position towards Israel. “In this conference we tried to find diplomatic solutions, respecting the rights of each country; our objective is to build a common ground with middle-eastern countries to prevent this nuclear arms race” said Alba.
