For the first time one of the main organizers of the Nakba anniversary on May 15 in Haifa, has been the Coalition of Women for Peace, mostly made of Jewish activists. A group of women activists joined a chanting and singing demonstration with sad moments of commemoration of “the cataclysm” (Nakba), which forced more than 800,000 Palestinians to leave their homes on May 15 1948. Meanwhile, after the celebrations for the independence of the State of Israel held in the country in the last two weeks , a new discriminating law has just been proposed by the members of the Israeli parliament: the prohibition of the celebration of the Nakba in Israel. Those who want to express their solidarity to the Palestinian diaspora and the ongoing Nakba would have to go to Gaza…We interviewed Dalit Baum, Israeli activist of the Coalition of Women for Peace.

The first stop of the Avigdor Lieberman’s European tour was in Italy, Rome, on the first week of May. The ”pro-Israel” position of the Italian government, one of the most favourable in Europe towards the Israeli policy, doesn’t reflect the opinion of part of the Italian society. As a result many were the people demonstrating against Lieberman’s visit in the country, the most outcried slogan being “Lieberman you are not welcomed” . We interviewed Alfredo Tradardi, activist of the International Solidarity Movement , to have a report on the demonstrations.
