In this show, an interview with the retired social worker David Carter. On 16 May David will start a 110 mile walk from Leicester to London. Mr.Carter will be handing over two books to Prime Minister Gordon Brown that have deeply impacted him, one by an Israeli and one by a palestinian. “I am walking in solidarity with those many Palestinians and Israelis whose voices are not often heard and who seek a ‘just peace’, and for the many Palestinians whose lives are being lost or ruined as I write. And I shall remember the 750,000 Palestinians that were made homeless when the state of Israel was founded in 1948 which have now grown into over 4 million refugees” said David Carter.

On April 27 Israeli police forces have detained simultaeously political activists in Tamat Hasharon, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Beer Sheva. Officers burst into the houses of political activists of the feminist movement New Profile: They took away their computers and detained several members of the group to be questioned.In this episode we interview Diana Doled, activist of the New Profile Movement. Diana noted: ” “These recent acts confirm what we have been contending for many years: the militarism of society in Israel harms the sacred principles of democracy, freedom of expression and freedom of political association”.

The Durban II, the UN world conference, was accused by media and public opinion of anti-Semitism. Several countries, USA and Canada included, decided to boycott the conference. Many were the controversial speeches, the most contested one being the Irani president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: during his speech, several leaders left the room.
Cecile Surasky, communications director of Jewish Voice for Peace, attended the conference to represent her association. In this episode she explains the reasons why the Durban II conference has been considered xenophobic.
