Second generation Palestinian-Italians, like many other immigrants face the dilemma of possessing a dual allegiance to their parents’ country of origin and their own place of birth. How do they negotiate with it? A glimpse into the lives of second generation Palestinian and Italian-Palestinian men and women living in Europe . Are they assimilated? do they want to assimilate? and is their culture inherently in oppposition to that of mainstream society they live in?
In this show we give voice to Mjriam Abu Samra , second generation Palestinian living in Rome and working in London, England.
She shares with us hints about her “mixed” culture, thoughts about her origins and she compares Palestinian second generations in Italy and England.
