Human Rights: Russel Tribunal: an analysis of the Spanish meeting

Mr. Frank Barat is one of the promoters of the Russel Tribunal. The starting session of this citizens court took place from 1st to the 3th March, in Barcelona and was focused on EU responsabilities and complicity in Israeli violations of International HUmanitaria Law. Mr. Barat resumed the outcomes of this meeting. “We first established the illegality of Israel’s actions. Then we focused on the EU. The EU and its member states are under an obligation to react in application of international law to prevent violations of peremptory norms of international law and to counteract their consequences” told us Mr. Barat.
The Russell Tribunal on Palestine seeks to reaffirm the primacy of international law as the basis for the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It will build its work around the enunciation of law by authoritative bodies. More info could be reached on Russel Tribunal on Palestine website
